Dr. Badruddoja provides consulting and coaching services on academic job searches and interviewing, the tenure process and book proposals.
Dr. Badruddoja is a tenured Associate Professor of Sociology and the Coordinator of the Women and Gender Studies program at Manhattan College. She/they has 15 years of teaching experience at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey-New Brunswick, Monmouth University, California State University-Fresno and Manhattan College. Dr. Badruddoja also has administrative experience as the Interim Chair of the Department of Sociology at Manhattan College. Her/their Ph.D. (and M.A.) is in Sociology from Rutgers University. Her/their primary research areas include, Women and Gender Studies and Feminist Theory, South Asian American Studies, Critical Race Theory, Ethnic Studies, Queer Studies, Post-Colonial Studies, Cultural Studies, Citizenship and Nationalism, Mother Studies and Feminist Ethnography. Dr. Badruddoja also has an M.B.A. in International Finance from American University and a B.S. in Communication from the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign. Her/their first academic monograph, Eyes of the Storms: The Voices of South Asian-American Women, was published by Cognella Press in 2013. In 2016, Dr. Badruddoja co-edited the anthology “New Maternalisms”: Tales of Motherwork (Dislodging the Unthinkable) published by Demeter Press. Her/their work was also featured in the anthology Good Girls Marry Doctors: South Asian American Daughters on Obedience and Rebellion published by Aunt Lute Press in 2016. Dr. Badruddoja works with Ph.D. and Masters students nationally and internationally and with numerous undergraduate students. She/they trains students to go on to successful careers in women and gender studies and sociology.
